FOODTOWN Supermarkets History
The first Foodtown grocery store opened in 1955 in New Jersey, NY. The chain was owned by Twin County Grocers.
In the following decades, Foodtown expanded throughout Long Island and New Jersey thanks to a concept of delivering the freshest quality products and providing the friendliest service.

During the 1980s and 1990s, Foodtown was one of the leading supermarket cooperatives in the northwestern United States. In 2012, Foodtown joined with other independent grocery store chains to found Allegiance Retail Services.
Today, Foodtown is a subsidiary of Allegiance Retail Services, LLC, has more than 60 supermarkets (under the Foodtown, Super Foodtown and Foodtown Fresh Market brands) and its headquarters are located in Iselin, New Jersey, U.S.A.
