DAVE'S Fresh Marketplace Supermarkets History
In 1969, Dave A. Cesario opened a small roadside stand where he sold fruits and vegetables, called Dave’s Fruitland, in Warwick, Rhode Island.
Dave sold merchandise from local producers, without intermediaries, with the maximum freshness and at the lowest price in the area.

The success led Dave to open a fixed store in 1978, located on West Shore Road, Warwick, RI. It was the first Dave’s Marketplace supermarket.
Over the past 50 years, Dave’s Fresh Marketplace, Inc. has expanded to 10 stores and is one of the largest independent grocery chains in the state.
Today, the supermarket chain is still family-owned and is headquartered in East Greenwich, RI, United States.
