In 1936, brothers Cleo and Leo Stater bought a grocery store from W.A. Davis in Yucaipa, CA. For decades, the retail chain expanded throughout Southern California.
In 1981, Jack H. Brown took over Stater Bros and it became the largest supermarket chain in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
